Over the years, the Varming Consulting Engineers team has been involved with many projects in Ireland that we’re extremely proud of. One such project saw our M & E Consulting Engineers working on a building with international significance, the University College Dublin Confucius Centre. We were tasked with providing mechanical and electrical building design services for the three-storey cultural institute that was created to foster greater cultural relations between Ireland and China.
The Confucius Centre at University College Dublin is a 2,000 square metre building and the total mechanical and electrical engineering value of the project was €1,030,000. The project which was completed in 2018, included the following elements:
A Campus-linked Building Management System
Underfloor heating to ground floor public areas
Natural ventilation to the central atrium
Full cafe/kitchen for specialist Oriental cuisine
Flexible underfloor data and power hubs delivered on modular grid
LED lighting featuring integrated controls for UCD energy management system
Voice and data networks linked to the main campus WAN/LAN
Comprehensive audiovisual facilities to support inter-cultural communication and teaching
Protective services able to be monitored from the security centre on campus
Our building services design consultants were able to create highly efficient infrastructure which will serve the University of Dublin well for many years to come and it’s this kind of work that reinforces our position as one of the leading mechanical and electrical engineering firms in Ireland.
