Varming Consulting Engineers Ltd. are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the 2024 Association of Consulting Engineers of Ireland “Mechanical & Electrical – Small / Medium project” for the professional services provided on our Roscommon Hospice project.

Roscommon Hospice is a new facility that provides Day Care, Community Care, respite and end of life services to patients and families living with life-limiting illnesses. The facility includes an 8 Bed In-Patient Palliative Care Centre located around an external courtyard and a therapeutic garden and a Day Care Centre that is arranged around a central private garden, providing patients with privacy.

An integrated design team approach to sustainable design ensured that the final design of the building incorporates significant active and passive design measures with building fabric that includes high levels of fabric insulation, air tightness natural light and ventilation. The active systems in the building included a modular Air Source Heat Pumps installation, Heat Recovery ventilation systems, LEDs lighting and lighting controls and Photovoltaic Panels.

Thermal Modelling demonstrated that a final building energy rating of A3 and NZEB compliance was achieved
